Love
Known for their intelligence, loyalty, and versatility, Chow Chow make excellent working dogs and family companions. They are highly trainable and excel in various roles, from police and military work to therapy and service.
Appearance
The Chow Chow is known for its distinctive lion-like mane and dense double coat, which can be rough or smooth. They have a sturdy, square build, and a unique blue-black tongue.
Temperament
Chow Chows are known for their independence and reserved nature. They are loyal to their families but can be aloof with strangers. Early socialization is important to ensure a well-rounded temperament.
Health
Chow Chows are generally healthy but can be prone to certain conditions such as hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, and entropion. Regular veterinary check-ups and a balanced diet are essential for maintaining their health.
Our puppies are carefully cared for:
- The initial weeks are crucial for newborn puppies. We ensure that the mother is properly feeding and caring for them, using a heat warmer to keep them comfortable and checking on them every few hours. They are also observed via cameras. As they grow, they will be introduced to children and other dogs for socialization.
- All puppies will receive deworming and vaccinations before they are placed in their forever homes.
- Before Delivery:
Approximately a week and a half before her due date, the mother will settle into her whelping box and create her nesting area. She receives special care, including calming music and white noise to help her relax. She is fed two nutritious meals daily, including milk, yogurt, and regular puppy food. - Delivery:
During and after whelping, the mother and her puppies are kept warm and comfortable under a heat lamp. In the week following delivery, it is challenging to get the mother out of the box, as she prefers to stay with her puppies. Once they reach weeks 2-3, she is taken outside 2-3 times a day for brief exercise and socialization sessions.
